Xenon swap
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I just purchased a Z4 2.5 from the US It'll arrive here probably in the end of july and I cannot wait There was one major component lacking to my z4, it had almost everything i wanted except Xenon So, I've done something... I've been given a Xenon headlamp (without ballasts, converters and bulbs ) See picture I've also purchased these items http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=190120159083 I've got halogen lights and i was just wondering if this is a direct fit or if I'll be needing to make any adjustments? Any info about this matter would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Oskar |

I hope you haven't paid (ebay). That's not gonna work on your Z4.
If you don't have xenon's and you want to retrofit OEM xenon's on your Z4. First of all you need to make sure the headlights you got are for the '03~'05 Z4's, and NOT for the face-lifted '06~'07 Z4's. You'll need to get - headlight module (the ones in that ebay link is NOT a Z4 headlight module) - wirings - levelling sensors - a programming at the dealer afterwards These parts cost about $700 USD. Levelling sensors are a PITA to install.

It might have been easier to purchase an aftermarket HID kit and retrofit that into your halogen headlamps. From what GP20 has said and from other sources, it is indeed an EXPENSIVE swap.

Hmm, I guess we'll have to find out, seeing how it's already on the way
I was wondering, what is the part number of a leveling sensor, I'm not finding them in RealOEM The aftermarket kit doesn't have a leveling sensor so i presume it shouldn't be too much of a hassle not having one with the OEM Xenon setup http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hella...25452106QQrdZ1 This is essentially what i bought, I do believe the wires are there merely for testing. These are attached to a Z4 light seen here ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...43914382QQrdZ1 ) So....is it really that hard? |

Nope. Not JUST $700. It's $700 for "the other" parts that are required for the retrofit. The headlights are not even included.

Good luck to you man. That's all I have to say. Cuz if you can pull this off...we'd all like to see how you did it in the DIY section.
