Not true by any means.
Any good shop can do it, but they need the tool to reset the steering angle sensor. Best bet is to find a good indie shop, or a race shop. I've never had the dealer do an alignment. Are you after some specific settings/set-up? |

Hey Ron, do you have more info on the steering angle sensor and its reset? I've only gotten the car aligned twice under my ownership, and I've never known about the sensor needing to be reset. No wonder my wheel is just ever so slightly off to one side. Always thought it was uneven tire wear or something lol

I believe Ron did this successfully with PAsoft. The physical centering of the wheel is part of the normal alignment. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=672836

Always best when talking to a shop to specifically ask about their ability to reset the steering angle sensor. You would be surprised at how many "performance" shops that do alignments can't, some don't even know what it is. As others have said, it is important and can have a significant affect on how your car handles.

I have a feeling PAsoft is under the tree for me this year.
I ordered it a while back & it shows as delivered..... I think the elves intercepted it.

Cool! It's a nice tool. I want to try the INPA and (can't recall the other name) coding tool, but it's a huge PITA to install and configure and use (cable is cheap though, but you "pay" in other ways). |

The main feature I want is for the LEW module to set the SAS. I'm certain that mine is out of whack.

I didn't dig deep into the provided links, but going off of the fact that this sensor is related to DSC, does this mean that if I drive with DSC off (which is pretty much always), I technically don't have to worry about zeroing or resetting said sensor?
