Can a dealership see work done at another dealership?
See here for details:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=849264 I wanna take my car to another dealer and see what they find but I'm worried they can see what the other dealership has done. Can anyone confirm this? If that's not an option I guess I'll have to find a good indie shop. |

Yes, they can indeed see. Your key provides your car's service history, as well as other various information. When you bring your car into any given dealer, they'll first scan and read the info from your key.

Unless you tell them that the wife went on business out of town with the electronic keys in her purse, and give them the plastic valet key instead.

There was a recall for pre-facelifted Z4s with the airbag wiring harness. My '03 had the recall done when the airbag light came on. Turns out the way BMW ran the wiring harness, it's crinked in the door panel and constant opening and closing of the door panel wore through the insulation.
You may want to look into the recall and see if it's done on your car. I suspect it might be the same reason rather than "moisture" getting into the wiring.
