More power while reducing the range? Yes, please! Like nobody who drives an EV cares about range, just power. I guess they don't have anything else at this point to offer so...more power

Just do it. I leased an I4 e40 and its a fun car....still very quick. Although, there is no way in hell I would have it as my ONLY car. Its fine to drive it to work everyday.....but forget about weekends; too much to think about if your prone to traveling or impromptu road trips.

Do you have the information that the range will be reduced?

Well, firstly, if they did increase the range, they would not hide it. Secondly, more power typically results in less range. However, if I'm wrong, I will buy you a drink.

Do you have any examples of BMW advertising the improvements to their existing models more than a year before these improvements become available on the market?

EVs are definitely fun, but not as fun and dramatic as ICE cars.
reminds me arguments for manual vs auto, rwd vs awd, and now ice vs EV. It’s a good fight, but looks like we already know who will win performance crown over time.

Untill then I’m fully enjoying my ice car with all the drama .

I always love the idea of more power, but the i4 M50 is definitely more than enough in grip, luxury, and acceleration for me. I'd maybe like a higher ride height so I can bomb over speed bumps faster.

“…at the end EV goes further than any ICE out there.”

How does EV “go further” if the range is less? — usually about 300 miles, vs. about 400 miles for most ICE cars.

I’m getting very conflicting advice from different people about whether I should get an EV or an ICE (or a hybrid) for my next car. But so far I thought it was generally acknowledged that an ICE would go further on a full tank (vs. a full charge).

A 46mpg car with an 11 gallon fuel tank (Toyota Yaris) can travel for about 505 miles. This is about 371kWh of energy consumed.

The 112kWh battery of a Lucid Air can travel for about 415 miles, or the equivalent of a 125mpg, 3.3 gallons fuel tank ICE car.

It's just a matter of time before EVs have more than enough range AND power.

BMW (and others) can add more power to an EV model much easier than an ICE equivalent. Tesla can add more power just through software updates.

The Rimac Nevera has 1900hp and can go 0-60 in under 2 seconds. It blows away Bugattis. This is today. Imagine what EVs will do 5 or 10 years from now. ICE can't compete.

Would be great to see SiC inverters used to improve efficiency same as iX LCI.

Current i4 drive train

Why would anyone buy the facelifted i4 with the old powertrain?
What's wrong with the current i4 drivetrain ?

The eDrive 40 offers superb handling (not unlike an E90-RWD) and decent efficiency. If you haven't watched Joe Achilles YouTube video review of the eDrive40, it's worth viewing.

The i4 M60 is now listed on the BMW website: https://www.bmw.nl/nl/modellen/bmwi/...m60-xdrive.bmw (in Dutch). Unfortunately not yet in the configurator.

The differences I get from this compared to the M50 are:

Power: 442 kW (601 hp) instead of 400 kW (544 hp)
Acceleration 0–100 km/h: 3.7 sec. instead of 3.9 sec.
Power consumption, combined WLTP: 21–16.6 kWh instead of 19.7–17.9 kWh
Electric range, WLTP: 432 - 551 km instead of 469 - 513 km
Recharged range after 10 minutes of fast charging: 141 - 185 km instead of 135 - 173 km
Empty weight: 2,285 kg instead of 2,290 kg

So it seems to have become about 5-10% more efficient with 10% more power.
Dealers don't know anything about prices and delivery yet. Anyone here by any chance?
No idea whether anything will change now with the 35 or 40 by the way, I can't find any differences there.

Yes, in a straight line. Until they get the weight down, it will never handle better than most ICE sport cars.

I agree with this. I love so many things about my i4. But, it's funny when people say it handles as well as a M car. Having 2 M cars in my garage, I can confirm that it's not even close. I live on the North Shore of LI where just going into town I have to go through hills and twisties. You definitely feel the weight when going into sharp turns. But, still admirable for BMW to hide most of the weight.

Who says the i4 handles better than M cars, though? It very obviously doesn't. It does handle better than most cars, though.

Acceleration, though? I'd take the i4 m50 over an M3 Comp, because of the instant torque.

I would like to see the i4 M50 / M60 with a carbon roof option rather than the sunroof.

i4 m50 already outdrives the tires unless you get the 20" sport wheels.

I'd upgrade for 1000 HP. That'd be something. For just over 600? It's too close to matter. Like a software update.
